Sindh CM condemns Afghan aggression, vows to defend sovereignty

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday strongly condemned recent acts of aggression from across the Afghan border, warning that Pakistan would not compromise on its sovereignty or tolerate cross-border terrorism.

In a statement issued from Karachi, the chief minister said that attacks carried out from Afghan soil against Pakistani citizens and security personnel were unacceptable and violated international norms.

“Pakistan has always sought friendly and cooperative relations with Afghanistan,” he said, adding that it was the responsibility of the Afghan leadership to take concrete action against terrorist elements operating from its territory.

Murad Shah said that Pakistan’s patience and restraint should not be mistaken for weakness, emphasising that the country had long demonstrated goodwill and support toward the Afghan people.

He said that provocations and terrorist activities originating from Afghanistan threatened regional peace and stability. “The war against terrorism is not only Pakistan’s burden; it is a shared global responsibility,” he said.

The chief minister urged the Afghan government to ensure that its soil was not used for hostile acts against Pakistan, stressing that Islamabad remained committed to peace, cooperation, and brotherhood in the region.

“Pakistan desires lasting peace but will firmly defend its sovereignty if challenged,” Murad Shah said, adding that regional stability could only be achieved through mutual respect and responsible state behaviour.
