Islamabad closes seven illegal sheesha cafés in major crackdown

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has carried out a significant operation against illegal indoor sheesha cafés, sealing seven establishments and arresting six individuals. The crackdown, which occurred late last night, also involved imposing heavy fines on the café owners.

According to a spokesperson from the ICT administration, indoor sheesha cafés are banned under Islamabad High Court orders, and businesses found operating these services will face strict legal consequences. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, has instructed assistant commissioners to take immediate action in their areas and warned that officials failing to implement the orders would be held accountable.

DC Memon emphasized that no indoor sheesha café will be allowed to operate in the city, and anyone found inside such cafés during raids, including customers, will face legal action. This campaign aims to strictly enforce court directives and safeguard public health, with authorities urging citizens to report illegal sheesha activities.

  1. The crackdown will continue with surprise inspections and on-the-spot legal proceedings across all zones of Islamabad. The administration has stated that no leniency will be shown to café owners or visitors involved in illegal sheesha activities. The public has been advised to avoid such establishments to prevent facing arrest or legal issues.
