PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam on Saturday criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for holding a public rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a time when, he said, the province is grappling with a wave of terrorism.
In a strongly worded statement from Peshawar, Muqam described the gathering as a “flop show”, claiming that not only the people of the province but also PTI’s own supporters had stayed away. “Just as their movement for Imran Khan’s release failed, their rally in KP has also collapsed,” he said.
The minister alleged that PTI’s leadership was consumed by an internal struggle for power rather than addressing public grievances. Drawing a parallel, he remarked: “Like India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, PTI’s so-called ‘Operation Mischief’ has also turned to ashes.”
Muqam further said that those who had abandoned KP’s flood victims were now spending “billions of rupees on failed rallies.” He argued that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s achievements, both domestically and abroad, had exposed and undermined what he described as PTI’s conspiracies.
He accused the PTI-led provincial government of indifference to the sacrifices of security personnel combating militants, adding: “The government is too busy staging public meetings to pay attention to protecting the lives and property of the people.”
