Govt to introduce AI for teaching in schools

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) into classrooms across Pakistan, starting with grade 8 students. This initiative aims to integrate AI into teaching the national curriculum in federal government-run schools.

A pilot project will be launched in two schools—one urban and one rural—to assess the effectiveness of AI in different educational settings. If successful, the program is expected to expand, potentially reaching up to 100,000 students nationwide.

The project is being implemented through a formal agreement between the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and Mind Hive, a technology firm specializing in digital learning solutions. The Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) will oversee a comprehensive review of the pilot phase, evaluating both learning outcomes and the program’s adaptability.

AI has the potential to revolutionize the learning experience by offering personalized lessons that cater to each student’s pace and understanding. This will not only help struggling students catch up but also allow advanced learners to progress further.

The initiative also aims to expose students to AI and digital tools early on, preparing them for a future where technology and digital literacy are essential. This aligns with Pakistan’s broader goal of equipping the younger generation with the skills needed to thrive in a knowledge-based economy.
