Islamabad to introduce rescue drones to modernize emergency services

ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting on Capital Emergency Services was held on Friday at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, led by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting focused on plans to modernize Islamabad’s emergency response systems.

Officials shared that consultations are underway with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for technical support and advanced equipment. The new service will feature drones, rescue motorbikes, and specialized vehicles to improve operational efficiency and response times. Additionally, a modern Emergency Operations Center will be established to oversee operations and ensure faster, coordinated responses in emergencies.

The meeting also discussed forest fire preparedness, with drone surveillance and watchtowers being incorporated into the strategy. Authorities confirmed that a site has already been identified for the new Emergency Operations Center, marking a key milestone in Islamabad’s efforts to upgrade its emergency services framework.
