Sindh government to launch Pink Taxi service for women

KARACHI: The Sindh government is set to introduce a new “Pink Taxi” service exclusively for women, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced on Thursday. The service aims to provide safer and more reliable transportation options for female commuters.

During an event in Karachi, where free electric Pink Scooters were distributed to women, Bilawal shared that the taxi initiative would be launched soon. He highlighted that this scheme follows Sindh’s earlier initiatives, such as the introduction of electric buses and the Pink Bus service in Karachi, making the province the first to offer women-specific public transport.

Bilawal distributed keys for the Pink Scooters, aimed at easing travel difficulties for female students and workers. He also mentioned the recent launch of the Benazir Hari Card scheme to assist small farmers affected by floods.

Emphasizing the importance of women’s empowerment, Bilawal stated that the progress of Sindh and Pakistan as a whole is tied to the active participation of women.
