Crackdown launched against famous fraud at Motorway service areas

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have initiated a special campaign to tackle cash drop fraud occurring in motorway service areas. Reports have surfaced that some shopkeepers were deceiving travelers by returning less money or engaging in other dishonest practices during transactions.

Syed Imran Ahmed, a spokesperson for the NHMP, confirmed that the campaign was launched in Sector M-2 South to protect road users from financial exploitation. The initiative includes several measures aimed at raising awareness and preventing fraud.

As part of the effort, panaflex banners warning travelers about potential scams have been installed in service areas. The Motorway Police’s educational units are also conducting awareness sessions at service area mosques, informing the public about their rights and how to stay vigilant.

In addition, passengers are being briefed at designated movie points regarding the risks of cash drop fraud and advised on ways to protect themselves.
