Balochistan CM clarifies false report on Ziarat assistant commissioner’s martyrdom

BALOCHISTAN: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti clarified on Tuesday that earlier reports claiming the martyrdom of Ziarat Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal and his son were false.

The initial reports, which emerged on Sunday, suggested that the assistant commissioner and his son, who had been abducted nearly a month ago, had been killed by their captors and left in the mountains. Following the news, CM Bugti had expressed his condolences and praised Afzal’s dedication, calling him a martyr who sacrificed his life in the line of duty.

However, during a session of the Balochistan Assembly, the chief minister explained that his earlier statements were based on preliminary reports, which had not been confirmed. “We even conducted a forensic analysis of the photo,” he added, further debunking the claim of martyrdom.
