KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced it will distribute free pink electric scooters to women across the province this week, aiming to provide a safer, more dignified, and cost-effective transport option for female commuters.
The decision came after a high-level meeting led by Sindh’s Minister of Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon. The meeting included key officials such as the Secretary of Transport and the Managing Director of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority.
Memon highlighted that the initiative, called the “Pink Scooties Project,” is designed to assist women and female students by reducing their travel time and expenses, while offering a more secure mode of transportation.
He further explained that the Sindh Mass Transit Authority had already compiled data on women and female students who applied for the program. Scooters will be allocated based on merit and need, with a transparent process ensuring fairness.
The Minister encouraged both working women and students to take full advantage of this new facility once the distribution begins, ensuring that the initiative reaches as many women as possible.
