LAHORE/RAJANPUR: Punjab Police Rajanpur achieved a major breakthrough against Katcha criminals by safely recovering six abducted citizens during a targeted operation.
According to a police spokesperson, members of the Umrani gang had kidnapped the six citizens from Rojhan last Sunday night and taken them into the Katcha area.
Acting swiftly, the police cordoned off the region and launched a large-scale operation.
Heavy contingents of police advanced toward the dacoits’ hideouts, triggering an intense exchange of fire. Facing strong retaliatory action, the criminals fled, leaving the abductees behind. During the operation, seven facilitators were arrested while the hideouts of the dacoits were set ablaze. The pursuit of the fleeing gang members continues.
Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar congratulated Rajanpur Police on the safe recovery and reaffirmed that the force remains vigilant around the clock to protect the lives and property of citizens.
5.9m driving licenses issued, Rs5.64b collected in traffic fines this year
Separately, Punjab Police highlighted achievements in public service delivery, particularly in traffic law enforcement. The spokesperson said more than 5.918 million driving licenses have been issued this year. Meanwhile, over 8.924 million challans were issued for traffic violations, bringing in fines exceeding Rs5.64 billion.
Police also challaned 258,000 smoke-emitting vehicles, impounded 22,895 vehicles at police stations, and seized 253 fitness certificates. The IG directed further crackdowns against overspeeding, overloading, underage driving, and one-way violations.
Dr. Anwar added that citizens are being trained in 127 driving training schools across the province, while effective measures are being taken to recover unpaid challans.
