IHC fixes indictment date in TikToker Sana Yousaf murder case

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Saturday set September 20 for the indictment of Umar Hayat in the murder of 16-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf.

Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka presided over the hearing, where Hayat was produced in court and given copies of the police challan. Hayat faces charges filed at the Sumbal police station. According to investigators, Hayat has confessed to shooting Yousaf inside her home. The court will formally frame the charges at the next hearing.

Sana Yousaf, a 16-year-old TikToker, was shot and killed in Islamabad’s G-13 Sector in June. According to police, she was shot at close range inside her home; the killer reportedly entered the house, opened fire, and then fled the scene.

Earlier in September, TikTok star Samiya Hijab survived a kidnapping attempt in Islamabad after police arrested her former fiancé, Hassan Zahid, following the viral CCTV footage of the August 31 incident.

An FIR filed at Shalimar Police Station states that Zahid had stalked and harassed her for days, offering gifts and threatening to kill her if she resisted.

Hijab said she ended their engagement after discovering his true nature and provided the CCTV evidence to the police.

In a video statement, she warned that her life remains in danger and appealed for continued protection as the investigation proceeds.
