PTI slams ‘inhuman treatment’ of Bushra Bibi, demands urgent medical care

  • Sh Waqas says PTI to move SC against mistreatment and denial of Bushra Bibi’s basic rights

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed serious concern over the rapidly deteriorating health of former First Lady Bushra Imran, saying that she is being subjected to “political victimization” and “inhuman treatment” by obstructing her medical care in blatant violation of clear court orders.

In a strongly-worded statement on Tuesday, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram fiercely condemned the government for crossing all boundaries of “barbarism and brutality” in a bid to silence dissenting voices and unlawfully cling to power through coercion and oppression.

Sh Waqas stated that prison authorities were not only obstructing her treatment despite her deteriorating health but also blatantly defying clear court orders. PTI CIS stressed that such conduct was not only inhumane but also a flagrant violation of the Constitution and fundamental human rights.

He emphasized that during a recent meeting, PTI Patron-in-Chief Imran Khan revealed that Bushra Bibi had been suffering from a severe illness for several days. Waqas pointed out that prison doctors had failed to diagnose her condition, while repeated requests for an examination by a private physician were consistently denied—an alarming manifestation of cruelty, injustice, and government apathy.

PTI CIS categorically stated that the government and prison authorities would be held fully responsible for any further risk to Bushra Bibi’s health. In this regard, he declared that the party was moving a petition before the Supreme Court to ensure justice and protection of her rights.

“PTI demands that Bushra Bibi be granted immediate access to a private medical specialist and that all necessary requirements for her treatment be fulfilled without delay,” he pressed. Waqas vowed that the party would vigorously pursue this matter both in the people’s court and before the country’s highest judicial forums.
