Hassan Zahid sent on physical remand in Samia Hijab threat case

ISLAMABAD: A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Sunday approved the three-day physical remand of Hassan Zahid, the accused in the case pertaining to alleged threats against TikToker Samia Hijab.

The court announced a reserved verdict and directed that the accused be produced again on September 10.

It may be recalled that on September 3, the same court had granted Zahid bail in a separate case of alleged abduction of Samia Hijab. According to official documents, he was granted bail on September 1 against surety bonds worth Rs20,000.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Aamir Zia, while approving the bail, had directed Zahid to cooperate with the investigation. The case is scheduled to resume on September 9.

Earlier, on September 2, Zahid was remanded into police custody for five days in another FIR related to harassment and torture of Samia Hijab. Police had produced him before Magistrate Yasir Mehmood Chaudhry, where during the proceedings Zahid admitted to his wrongdoing, saying, “Sir, I made a mistake.”

In his defense plea, Zahid maintained that he was innocent and claimed that the case had been registered against him to “harass and blackmail” him.
