Rising sexual assault cases in Islamabad: 200 children among victims

ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry disclosed on Tuesday that 200 children were among the 567 sexual abuse cases reported in Islamabad between January 2021 and June 2025. Of the child victims, 93 were boys and 108 were girls.

In total, 222 individuals were arrested in connection with these crimes. However, only 12 have been convicted, 163 are still under trial, 15 have been acquitted, and 26 remain at large.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed the House that, based on reports from all police stations in Islamabad through the Zonal Superintendent of Police, 567 rape cases were registered during the period from January 1, 2021, to June 20, 2025. Out of these, 485 cases were challaned, 80 accused were convicted, 23 were acquitted, and 406 cases are still ongoing in the courts.
