ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar revealed on Wednesday that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had uncovered “irrefutable evidence” of corruption involving Bahria Town. According to Tarar, the FIA had discovered crucial documents during a raid, which exposed a significant money laundering operation linked to the real estate group.
The minister emphasized that the evidence revealed that the Safari Hospital had been used as a front to conceal illegal activities. Tarar stated that Bahria Town staff were found burning records, but a substantial portion was recovered, raising questions about why such actions were necessary if no illegal activity had occurred.
He further highlighted that the evidence pointed to a network involving Hundi, Hawala, and money laundering. Additionally, he noted that the use of ambulances to transport sensitive documents and cash was highly suspicious.
The FIA is continuing its investigation and has successfully traced several absconders linked to the case.
