China-funded 1.2 MGD water plant starts supplying clean water to Gwadar

ISLAMABAD: The China-funded 1.2 MGD (million gallons per day) desalination water plant officially began supplying safe drinking water to residents of Gwadar.

This marks a promising step toward alleviating the region’s long-standing water crisis, Gwadar Pro reported on Friday.

The development came into effect following the efforts of Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Chairman Noorul Haq Baloch, who collaborated with Chinese engineers to operationalize the plant, located within the premises of Gwadar Port.

To mark the occasion, Chairman Noorul Haq Baloch, along with Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, Momin Baloch, visited the desalination plant and the Koh-Bun Ward pumping station to inspect the water supply system.

During the visit, Executive Engineer Momin Baloch briefed the GPA Chairman on the distribution of water from the Koh-Bun pumping station to the old city and neighboring settlements around Gwadar Port.

The briefing noted that 50,000 gallons of water will now be supplied daily from the port to the Koh-Bun pumping station, ensuring a regular supply of clean water to the local population.
