ISLAMABAD: Justice Inam Amin Minhas of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday presided over hearings of multiple petitions challenging the controversial Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) Amendment Act 2025.
The counsel for the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) began presenting arguments, providing historical context as the judge requested background information to better understand the case.
The amendment, which establishes a Social Media Complaint Council, has expanded the scope of the law. The IHC instructed the petitioners to clarify the changes made to the Code of Conduct, detailing what it previously encompassed and how it has been modified under the new amendment.
