PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser, Barrister Dr. Saif, has condemned the nomination of U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling it “the ultimate form of slavery.”
Dr. Saif made this remark in a statement on Friday, criticizing what he perceives as the hypocrisy of Trump’s peace prize nomination while his actions contradict the very essence of peace.
Dr. Saif emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should take a stand and refuse to support Trump’s nomination. Drawing a comparison to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s defiant stance, Dr. Saif said, “It’s better to become Prisoner No. 804 than to gain power through sycophancy,” warning the PM not to compromise national interests for political gain.
Questioning the reasoning behind the nomination, Dr. Saif highlighted Trump’s role in escalating conflicts, particularly his direct orders for military strikes on Iran and his repeated rejections of ceasefire resolutions in Gaza. He argued that instead of mediating, Trump’s actions have led to innocent civilian casualties in conflict zones, undermining any claims to peace-making.
Dr. Saif went on to describe Trump’s nomination as “beyond comprehension” and an “embarrassment” for those who support it. He further criticized the notion of sycophancy, urging that there should be limits to such actions.
Concluding his statement, Dr. Saif praised Imran Khan for his unwavering stance, saying, “It is his ‘Absolutely Not’ policy that has earned him the love of the people. He has never compromised on the dignity and honor of the Muslim Ummah.”
