Conversion of Hindu minors triggers uproar, police recover victims

HYDERABAD: The forced conversion of three Hindu sisters and their cousin in Sindh’s Sanghar district sparked outrage in the local Hindu community. The victims, two of whom were minors, had reportedly left their home without informing their families on June 19. Later, they released videos claiming they had converted to Islam willingly, fearing harm from their families for their decision.

The parents of the minors, along with the Hindu Panchayat, urged police to take immediate action. Acting on these appeals, the police recovered the children and arrested the suspect, identified as Farhan Khaskheli, a local computer teacher accused of abducting and brainwashing the minors. The mothers of the children expressed deep distress, blaming Khaskheli for manipulating and abducting their children.

Rajesh Kumar, head of the Hindu Panchayat, condemned the incident, stressing that it was a communal issue. He questioned the minors’ ability to make such a significant decision and emphasized the peaceful coexistence of Hindus and Muslims in the area.

Sanghar SSP Ghulam Nabi Keerio assured the community that swift police action would be taken, and an FIR was filed based on the parents’ complaints. The incident has sparked further debate on the protection of minority rights and the proper handling of such sensitive matters.
