Pakistan Railways raises fares after fuel price hike

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has announced an increase in fares for both passenger and freight trains following the recent rise in petroleum product prices. According to an official notification, passenger train fares will rise by 3%, while charges for freight wagons will increase by 4%.

The new passenger fares will take effect from June 20, and the revised freight rates will be implemented starting June 23. The fare hike is a response to the rising operational costs faced by Pakistan Railways due to the surge in fuel prices, aimed at managing the financial impact of these increases.
