ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed grave concern over the escalating armed conflict between Iran and Israel, labeling it a threat to both regional and global peace. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong solidarity with Iran and condemned Israeli aggression that has claimed hundreds of Iranian lives, urging the international community to push for an immediate ceasefire.
During a meeting broadcasted live on national TV, the prime minister called on the global community to take decisive action to halt the violence and emphasized the hope for lasting peace.
In addition to addressing the Iran-Israel conflict, Prime Minister Sharif announced the formation of a high-level committee to promote a cashless economy and accelerate digitization efforts. Chaired by the prime minister himself, the committee will meet weekly to review progress and ensure the successful implementation of digital payment systems.
The meeting also discussed initiatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Information Technology regarding digital transactions and the promotion of a cashless economy. Furthermore, Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged children, particularly through Daanish Schools and university projects, which will be upgraded to meet international standards.
