4,650 harassment cases addressed in four years, says Punjab Ombudsperson

MULTAN: Punjab Ombudsperson for Women, Nabila Hakim Ali, revealed that her office has handled 4,650 harassment complaints during her four-year tenure. Of these, only 50 cases are still under investigation, while the remaining have been resolved.

Speaking at the National Civil Society Convention 2025 at the University Law College in Multan, she expressed satisfaction with her work, emphasizing her commitment to women’s rights. “I worked beyond my capacity for women’s rights,” she said.

Ali highlighted her efforts in South Punjab, where she conducted numerous visits, established four sub-offices, and set up anti-harassment committees. She also focused on raising awareness through seminars, case hearings, and workshops. Over the past four years, her office successfully helped women recover inheritance properties worth Rs1,200 billion.

Dr. Abdul Saboor, CEO of the Lodhran Pilot Project, and Dr. Roma, Chairperson of the Harassment Committee at Bahauddin Zakariya University, praised Ali’s contributions, noting that her tenure would be remembered for ensuring justice for oppressed women.
