HYDERABAD: The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested a man on Friday for blackmailing a woman using a compromising video and extorting over Rs700,000 from her.
According to officials, the victim filed a complaint alleging that the accused, Ghulam Kazim, secretly recorded an inappropriate video of her and used it to threaten and blackmail her. Kazim demanded both money and illicit favors, threatening to release the video on social media. The woman revealed that she had already paid Kazim Rs700,000 in hush money.
Following the complaint, the NCCIA raided Kazim’s location on Autobahn Road in Hyderabad and arrested him. They seized his mobile phone, which contained incriminating data, including the video used for blackmail. Kazim, a resident of Sobho Dero in district Khairpur, was taken into custody, and an FIR was filed against him. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether Kazim has been involved in similar crimes targeting other victims.
