9,500 tonnes of waste disposed of during Eid in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) successfully completed a special cleanliness operation during the three days of Eid-ul-Adha, removing over 9,500 tonnes of waste from the city. The initiative was part of efforts to maintain public hygiene during one of the busiest times of the year.

More than 3,500 staff members participated in the operation, which involved the use of 707 small and large vehicles to collect animal remains from various parts of the city. The operation also included washing roads with a mixture of rose water and chlorine, and treating areas with lime to ensure cleanliness.

CEO Yasir Ali Khan toured the city to oversee the operation’s progress. The WSSP ensured an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water and addressed public complaints promptly. To further support cleanliness, residents were urged to place animal waste in plastic bags at designated points.

The successful completion of this operation reflects WSSP’s commitment to improving sanitation and public health in Peshawar.
