China welcomes Pakistan, Afghanistan’s move to upgrade diplomatic ties to ambassadorial level

BEIJING: China has welcomed the announcement by Pakistan and Afghanistan to upgrade their diplomatic relations from charge d’affaires to ambassadorial level, a move aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian expressed support for this development during a regular press briefing on Wednesday.

Lin noted that both the Pakistani government and the interim Afghan government had recently agreed to elevate their diplomatic representation, which China views as a positive step toward enhancing mutual trust and cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He emphasized that this upgrade would contribute to peace and stability in the region.

The spokesperson further highlighted that this move was in line with the outcomes of the informal foreign ministers’ meeting held in May between China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

Lin reaffirmed China’s willingness to continue playing a constructive role in fostering the improvement of relations between the two neighboring countries.

Additionally, Lin Jian expressed China’s commitment to working with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other regional nations to safeguard peace, stability, and development in the region. He reiterated China’s goal of building a community with a shared future through collaboration with its neighbors.
