Cop shot dead while allegedly stealing goats in Chiniot

CHAK JHUMRA: A policeman was shot dead while allegedly attempting to steal goats in Chak No.126JB, within the jurisdiction of Chiniot Saddar Police Station.

Constable Abdul Salam, posted at Chak Jhumra Police Station, reportedly tried to flee after being spotted by local residents. During the ensuing chase, he was shot and died on the spot.

Police officials said the constable had been absent from duty for two days prior to the incident.

District Police Officer Abdullah Ahmed and other officers arrived at the scene, transferred the body to a hospital, and launched an investigation.

Separately, a motorcyclist, Muhammad Kashif, died after being hit by a speeding car near Awagat on Jaranwala Road. Two others, including a woman, were injured and taken to hospital. Police are searching for the car driver.
