CTD kills three suspected terrorists in Barkhan clash

BARKHAN: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Sunday killed three suspected terrorists in an exchange of fire during an operation in Barkhan district, Balochistan.

According to the CTD, the suspects were affiliated with a banned organisation, and weapons were recovered from the site.

The operation comes amid a rise in militant violence across the province, which has placed increasing pressure on law enforcement agencies. The CTD stated that the militants opened fire upon being approached, leading to a gunfight in which all three were neutralised.

Balochistan has witnessed a series of deadly attacks in recent years, many of which have been claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and other separatist groups. The attacks have primarily targeted civilians and security forces, leading to hundreds of casualties.

In one such incident a few months ago, several passengers were killed during the hijacking of the Jaffar Express, which was en route from Quetta to Peshawar. More recently, eight children died when a school bus was targeted in Khuzdar, underlining the continued threat posed by militant groups in the region.
