ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a comprehensive crackdown on illegal constructions and unauthorized housing societies in Islamabad, warning that no one will be spared in the campaign to restore order and legality in the federal capital.
Chairing a high-level meeting of key officials, including the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, the Inspector General of Police, deputy commissioners, DIGs, SPs, and assistant commissioners, the minister approved an aggressive operation targeting all unlawful structures, including unregistered homes and societies operating without approval.
Naqvi stressed that a strict zero-tolerance policy must be enforced and directed that satellite mapping through the Land Information and Management System (LIMS) be used to identify and eliminate illegal developments swiftly and effectively.
“All officers must make it their top priority to deliver world-class public services to the people of Islamabad. There will be no compromise on protecting the lives and properties of citizens,” he said.
The interior minister directed SPs and ACs to perform their duties with full dedication and responsibility, underlining the importance of accountability and proactive administration. He also emphasized that the success of the government’s efforts depends on restoring public confidence in law enforcement and civil administration.
Naqvi encouraged the introduction of citizen-focused initiatives and assured complete institutional support for reforms that enhance transparency, service delivery, and law and order. He noted that improving the image of the police and local government would require direct engagement with the public and swift action against encroachments and illegal operators.
In addition, the minister issued instructions to enforce price controls on essential commodities and maintain cleanliness across the city during the upcoming Eidul Azha holidays, stressing the importance of efficient municipal management and civic responsibility.
