Kashmir president praises military response, urges diaspora action

ISLAMABAD: The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, said on Sunday that the Pakistan Armed Forces have delivered a decisive and powerful response to Indian aggression by shooting down Rafale jets and targeting key airbases across the border.

“The nation salutes the unmatched bravery of our armed forces,” Chaudhry stated, hailing what he called a moment of national pride.

Speaking at a press conference, the AJK president identified the unresolved Kashmir dispute as the root cause of continued tensions between Pakistan and India. He called on the international community to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and play a proactive role in seeking a peaceful resolution.

“A lasting solution must involve the Kashmiri people. Any meaningful dialogue should be trilateral in nature — including Pakistan, India, and the people of Kashmir,” he stressed.

Chaudhry also urged overseas Kashmiris to play an active role in countering Indian propaganda and highlighting the BJP government’s Hindutva-driven policies, particularly its alleged human rights abuses in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

“India continues to target innocent civilians along the Line of Control and suppress voices in Kashmir. The diaspora must raise awareness internationally,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, thanksgiving events and celebratory rallies continue across Azad Kashmir following the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

In Muzaffarabad, a large rally organized by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund and the Bird Foundation brought together hundreds of participants waving the flags of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. Banners expressed gratitude to the armed forces, and the air rang with patriotic chants including “Long live Pakistan.”

Key speakers at the event included Mayor Syed Sikandar Gilani, educationist Tariq Shafi, and community leaders such as Rashid Zargar, Khurram Naqvi, and Tahira Kazmi. Students, scouts, political workers, and members of civil society also took part.

Mayor Gilani stated that those who underestimated Pakistan’s military capabilities had now witnessed a “resounding and practical response.”

Educationist Tariq Shafi presented a symbolic cap, gifted to him by a former student who had risen to the rank of Vice Chief Air Marshal, to the young scout leading the parade — a gesture he said was meant to inspire future generations.

Rashid Zargar added that “when Muslims respond with their full strength, Allah’s help is with them,” while Khurram Naqvi highlighted the public’s overwhelming enthusiasm and unity with the armed forces.

The rallies, infused with national spirit, marked a powerful show of solidarity with the military and a defiant stance in the face of Indian aggression.
