Broken sewer lines near Rawalpindi hotel cause health hazards; RCB vows cleanup

Severely damaged sewerage lines outside Abbasi Hotel near Rawalpindi Cantonment have caused the spread of illnesses in the surrounding area. The broken sewer lines, located on Haider Road beside Ramzan Plaza, are leaking dirty water into nearby streets, leading to increased cases of skin allergies and respiratory problems among residents. Wastewater flowing onto Haider Road has further worsened public health risks.

Senior Advocate Nadeem Khan said he repeatedly raised the issue with the hotel management but received no satisfactory response. He praised recent development projects that have transformed Rawalpindi Cantonment but urged authorities to address the sanitation problem affecting the neighborhood due to foul odor and filth.

A spokesperson for the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) said special measures will be taken to clean the affected area and improve sanitation to mitigate health risks.
