SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A powerful explosion targeted the vehicle of local Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Noorullah near Shahzad Madrassah, adjacent to a police station in Azam Warsak market, lower South Waziristan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday, police said.
The bomb attack aimed at Maulana Noorullah, who was unharmed along with local party leaders Maulana Ishaq and Maulana Amanullah, traveling with him at the time. Police confirmed no casualties resulted from the blast. Security forces cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation.
In a video message released by JUI-F, Maulana Noorullah told supporters, “We all are safe. We want peace in the country and protection of religious schools, mosques and all Muslims.”
JUI-F leaders have faced repeated attacks in KP and Balochistan in recent months. On March 14, a bomb exploded during Friday prayers at a mosque in South Waziristan, seriously injuring JUI district chief Abdullah Nadeem and three others.
Similarly, on April 25, a roadside explosion near Kalat district killed a local JUI-F leader and two women, injuring five others. The blast occurred in Kapootu area targeting a pickup vehicle carrying eight people, driven by JUI-F union council member Maulana Abdullah Nachari.
In another attack on March 2, two JUI-F leaders, Wadera Ghulam Sarwar and Molvi Amanullah, were assassinated in the Zehri area of Khuzdar district. Unknown assailants on motorcycles opened fire, killing both leaders instantly, with a security guard injured in the attack.
These incidents underscore the ongoing security threats faced by JUI-F leaders across the region.
