A tragic road accident claimed the life of 10-year-old Samamah and left his parents, Rizwan and Laraib, injured when a speeding dumper truck hit their motorcycle under the Gulbai bridge in Karachi’s Shershah area. The family had been celebrating Samamah’s achievement of securing first position in his fifth-grade exams, with plans to enjoy dinner at Kharadar Food Street.
The truck driver fled the scene, and an enraged crowd set the dumper on fire. Police have arrested one individual from the crowd who set the truck ablaze, and efforts are underway to apprehend the driver.
In another incident, an infant girl, Suhana, died when the motorcycle she was riding on slipped in Baldia Town, while her parents were injured. A motorcyclist also died in a collision with a parked tanker on Sharea Faisal. In a separate incident, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police was injured in a road mishap near PAF Faisal Base.
The city has seen escalating violence, with 52 citizens injured by stray bullets in the past 34 days, raising concerns about the unchecked spread of illegal weapons.
