Civil Defence launches crackdown on substandard bottled water in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: The Civil Defence Department has initiated a citywide campaign against the sale of substandard bottled water falsely marketed as “mineral water.”

According to a spokesperson, four teams have been formed to collect water samples from homes, offices, markets, and shopping malls across Rawalpindi and the cantonment areas. The campaign follows public complaints about the supply of unsafe bottled water.

District Civil Defence Officer Talib Hussain confirmed that collected samples are being sent to government laboratories for testing. Companies found supplying unsafe water will face bans, heavy fines, and legal action.
