BNP chief Akhtar Mengal leaders accused of assaulting Senate staff

ISLAMABAD: An FIR has been lodged against Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief Akhtar Mengal and other party leaders at the Secretariat police station in Islamabad under terrorism-related charges.

The case names BNP leaders Shafi Muhammad, Ahmed Nawaz, Mir Jahanzeb Mengal, Akhtar Hussain, and Shafiq Turkai.

The FIR, filed by Jameel Ahmed, Joint Secretary of the Senate, accuses them of assaulting Senate staff and attempting to forcibly enter the senators’ gallery.

It further alleges that the accused were armed and involved in violent altercations.
