PTI demands explanations from two senators over 26th Amendment involvement

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has issued show-cause notices to senators Zarqa Taimur and Faisal Saleem, citing evidence of their contact with the government before the passage of the 26th constitutional amendments.

The senators are required to submit written responses within a week.

This move follows Wednesday’s issuance of similar notices to PTI members of parliament (MPs) Zain Qureshi, Riyaz Fatyana, Aslam Ghuman, and Miqdad Ali Khan for breaching party directives leading up to the amendment’s passage.

In the notices from the party’s central secretariat, PTI emphasized that it had instructed all National Assembly and Senate members to remain secure at designated locations and to avoid communication with government representatives regarding constitutional changes.
