SHC adjourns hearing on Ishaq Dar’s appointment as deputy PM

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday adjourned the hearing of an application challenging the appointment of Ishaq Dar as deputy prime minister.

Petitioner’s lawyer, Advocate Tariq Mansoor, informed the court that Ishaq Dar had been named as a respondent in the case and urged the court to issue a notice requiring Dar to submit a response.

The court inquired about the verdict concerning the appointment of Pervez Elahi as deputy PM during the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government’s tenure. Advocate Mansoor clarified that he had written to the cabinet division regarding the Gazette notification and had also submitted an application in the Lahore High Court (LHC) to obtain a copy of the verdict.

The court opted not to issue any notices until the necessary documents were submitted and adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
