PTI files petition in LHC seeking permission for rally at Minar-e-Pakistan

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday approached the Lahore High Court, seeking approval to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on September 21.

The petition, filed by PTI leaders Alia Hamza and Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood, lists the Punjab government and other relevant authorities as respondents.

PTI, the largest opposition party, argues that it has consistently been denied permission to hold rallies in Lahore for political reasons.

The party’s recent application to the Lahore Deputy Commissioner for the upcoming rally was also rejected.

PTI has urged the court to intervene, citing their constitutional right to hold political gatherings, and has requested permission to proceed with the planned event.
