Hearing of Pervez Elahi’s money laundering case postponed to Sep 19

LAHORE: The hearing of the money laundering case against former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and others has been adjourned until September 19.

The case was heard on Tuesday by Judge Sheikh Tanveer Ahmad of the Special Court (Central). During the proceedings, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Zara Elahi, and other accused were present and marked their attendance.

Pervez Elahi informed the judge of his poor health, prompting the judge to instruct him to remain seated in the courtroom. Zara Elahi’s counsel requested her permanent exemption from appearance due to her observance of purdah (veil), assuring that she would attend the proceedings during the indictment.

The court then postponed further proceedings in the money laundering case to September 19. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had previously filed a challan against Pervez Elahi and others on charges of money laundering.
