Speaking at a tree plantation campaign organized by the Capital Development Authority in Islamabad on Monday, he emphasized the government’s commitment to tree plantation and improving air quality. He stressed that our survival is linked to trees and urged everyone to take tree plantation seriously as a national duty, extending the campaign to educational institutions.
Attaullah Tarar highlighted the significance of Margalla National Park, calling it the identity of Islamabad, and emphasized the collective responsibility to protect it from all hazards.
The Information Minister also asked television channels to dedicate some airtime to encourage tree plantation, underscoring its importance as a social cause. He announced the launch of an app to help people track and care for the trees they plant.
Tarar called on major carbon emission contributors to support Pakistan in dealing with climate change. He pointed out that Pakistan contributes only two percent of global carbon emissions but is one of the most affected countries by climate change.
Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam, also present at the event, emphasized the need for greater coordination among various departments to ensure the success of the plantation campaign.
