JI mandate in Karachi stolen, says top party leader

QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Balochistan Amir Moulana Abdul Haq Hashmi said on Sunday that JI was on the protest against the election 2024 results as JI mandate in Karachi had been stolen.

This he said while addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club with Zahid Akhtar Baloch, General Secretary, JI, Balochistan; Hafiz Nur Ali, Ameer, JI, Quetta; and Abdul Wali Shakir, Information Secretary, JI, Balochistan.

The JI leader said that it was for the first time that two representatives of JI had been elected as members of Balochistan Provincial Assembly after winning seats from Gwadar and Jaffarabad areas of the province.

Mr Hashmi said that a protest against the recent election was being staged across the country, adding that JI was also staging the protest against the result of election-2024 conducted in Karachi. People of Karachi had rejected a party during previous local bodies election, but the said party had been given representation in Karachi merely to stop the way of JI, he said.

Expressing solidarity with protesting political parties of Balochistan, he said that grievances of those political parties with regard to election results were required to the addressed.
