Lawyer arrested for chanting anti-Nawaz slogans

LAHORE: A lawyer who chanted anti-Nawaz slogans during Maryam Aurangzeb’s court appearance has been apprehended by the police on Saturday. The Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore conducted proceedings related to the case of an alleged anti-state speech by the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader, Maryam Aurangzeb.

The lawyer, identified as Atiqur Rahman, was taken into custody for shouting slogans in support of the former chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf outside the court premises. The incident occurred as Maryam Aurangzeb arrived at the Anti-Terrorism Court.

Despite repeated warnings from the police, Atiqur Rahman, along with other activists, continued to chant “Chor Chor” (thief) as a form of protest. The lawyer had come to the court to appear as an accused in the May 9 tragedy cases.
