Earthquake jolts Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of 6 magnitude jolted several parts of the country including Islamabad, Peshawar, and Lahore among other cities.

The tremors were felt in several areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindu Kush region and the depth of the quake was 213km.

Meanwhile, the US Geological Survey (USGS), which reports magnitude using the Moment
Magnitude scale, said the quake’s magnitude was 6.4 while its epicentre was 44km south-southeast of Jurm, Afghanistan.

KP Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi said its control room had not received any distress calls or reports about any loss of lives or property damage so far.
