ZamongKor hosts exhibition to showcase talent of destitute kids

SWAT: A science and craft exhibition was organized to explore and showcase talent and prowess of the children under the care of “ZamongKor”, a government institution for orphans and destitute children in Kanju town of Swat district.

ZamongKor (Our home) was established by the provincial government for the education, training and support of children deprived of the shadow of parents.

There are currently 103 children under study in ZamongKor established in 2021 in Kanju Township, a science and craft exhibition was organized in this institution to showcase the skills of children studying up to the seventh grade. At the exhibition, children put on display artwork and models of science and craft, which drew keen attention of the audience.

Sixth-grade student Yahya made a model of the solar system and presented it. He, on this occasion, said that when he got the opportunity, he consulted his colleagues and made a plan to make a model of the solar system and “finally we got succeeded.”

Najamul Sahar, Provincial Director of ZamongKor, who was chief guest at the event, said that the journey was started back in 2016 with only 15 children, saying he felt exulted to inform the audience that now five such schools were operational across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which housed 1,100 children.

Special guests of the event, swat Deputy Commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan and District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur inaugurated the festival by cutting a cake and feeding the cake to the orphans with their own hands.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner announced the establishment of another institution in Tehsil Kabal, in which 500 poor and destitute children will be supported.
