Magnitude 5.6 quake jolts capital, parts of KP, Punjab

LAHORE: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.6 jolted different cities of the country including Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar on Tuesday afternoon.

People rushed out their homes, offices, other buildings in panic reciting Kalma-e-Tayyeba and verses from Holy Quran. However, no causalities or property damages were reported from anywhere.

In Punjab, the tremors were felt in Shakar Garh, Chichawatni, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Zafarwal and Murree while the quake also hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Abbottabad, Swabi, and Swat areas.

Meanwhile, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the tremors were felt in Bagh, DhirKot, and Muzaffarabad areas.
