Tribal clash over coalmine dispute leaves 16 people dead in Kohat

KOHAT: As many as 16 people were killed and scores others injured as two tribes clashed over coalmine boundary dispute, police said on Tuesday.

According to details, Sunni and Zarghoon Khel tribes of Dara Adamkhel of district Kohat which were in dispute over coalmine boundary traded fire.

In cross firing 11 people hailing from one tribe and five from other tribe was killed while several others belonging to both tribes sustained bullet wounds.

The bodies and injured were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar for medico-legal formalities.

The security forces cordoned off the area after the clash, halted the gunfire and restored peace in the area.
