PTI foils several poll rigging attempts during LG polls: Musarrat Cheema

LAHORE: PTI leader Musarrat Jamshed Cheema on Sunday claimed that several attempts of rigging were made unsuccessful last night, adding the people [of Karachi and Hyderabad] would never let such parties to hijack Karachi.

Taking to Twitter, she said several attempts of rigging were made unsuccessful last night, adding the people [of Karachi and Hyderabad] would never let such parties to hijack Karachi.

She said the PTI would remain successful in the Sindh local government elections today, saying the people of Sindh had rejected the hooliganism and blackmailing of the MQM.
In another tweet, the former spokesman of the Punjab chief minister said the Punjab Assembly had stood dissolved and general elections would take place in next 90 days.

She said the PML-N couldn’t t compete with the PTI in political battle as their [PML-N] leader [Nawaz Sharif] is an absconder who would spend the rest of his life while playing ludo with Altaf Hussian. “Now the future of Pakistan is bright,” she opined.

Unidentified people set the election camp of a political party, set up for the LG polls, on fire in Karachi’s Saudabad on Sunday.

Police said the fire broke out near the Boys Secondary School polling camp and was brought under control in no time. The suspects fled the scene.

Police officials said the investigation is underway to determine the cause behind the fire as initially, it looks like someone lit up the fire to save themselves from cold.

It may be noted that polling for the second phase of local government (LG) polls in Sindh has kicked off in Karachi and Hyderabad divisions with over 3.4 million people exercising
their right to vote to elect their local governments.

The polling is taking place in seven districts of Karachi and nine districts of the Hyderabad division. Strict security measures have been put in place to ensure fair and transparent elections in both divisions.

It is being reported from various parts of Karachi and Hyderabad that polling has yet not begun due to staff ‘unavailability’.
