NAB asked to explain housing society probe against Farah

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday sought a response from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after Farah Shehzadi, a friend of former prime minister Imran Khan’s spouse, challenged an inquiry involving a housing society scandal against her.

A two-judge bench, headed by Justice Shehram Sarwar, issued the notice to the dirty money watchdog while hearing the petition filed by Shehzadi.

During the hearing, Justice Sarwar remarked Shehzadi’s name was not placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) or a blacklist. She argued the notices sent to her by the agency were based on malafide intention, and pleaded with the court to set them aside.

In the petition, she maintained the anti-graft watchdog had reopened an inquiry closed in 2019 in an act of political victimisation.
