Rasheed: Decision on provincial assemblies’ dissolution within week

ISLAMABAD: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said on Wednesday that a decision about the fate of the assemblies of Punjab and KP would be taken within a week.

The former interior minister in a tweet underlined the instant challenges being faced by the state. He said the country was facing an economic catastrophe whereas power-hungry people were ruling over them.

Ahmad said the apolitical approach of the institutions was commendable, but it’s nearly impossible for the institutions to stay aloof from public affairs. People with sheer greed for power have economically shattered the country, he added.

In his last public address in Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan announced that he would dissolve the two assemblies in protest against the government. The PTI leadership had been striving for an early election in the country and holding rallies to pressurise the government into doing so.
