Grand Mufti Pakistan Mufti Rafi Usmani passes away

KARACHI: Grand Mufti of Pakistan, President of Jaamiyah Darul Uloom Karachi and renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Rafi Usmani passed away at the age of 86 here on Friday.

The deceased was son of Pakistan’s former grand mufti Shafi Usmani and elder brother of the Islamic University’s Vice President Maulana Mufti Taqi Usmani.

Born in the United-India’s Deoband town on July 21, 1936, Mufti Rafi Usmani was also the patron of the Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabia, Pakistan.

President, PM, the four CM’s, Governors, federal and provincial ministers besides other have expressed deep grief over the death of the country’s grand mufti.

They termed it a great loss for not only Pakistan but also the Islamic world. Mufti sahib’s contributions to the promotion of religious teaching are unparalleled, they added.

The PM and CMs said, “Death of Mufti sahib is a great tragedy for the Islamic world. His religious services are eternal.”

They prayed for Mufti Rafi Usmani to be granted a high place in Jannah.
