Jhang by-polls: Sh Waqas Akram backs PTI candidates

JHANG: Former Federal Minister Sheikh Waqas Akram on Tuesday announced his support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates in the upcoming Jhang by-elections.

Sheikh Waqas Akram said that he was supporting the PTI candidates on Pir Qasim Sialvi’s request.

The by-elections will be held in Jhang on the constituencies PP-125 and PP-127, where PTI candidates Mian Azam Cheela and Mehr Nawaz Bharwana will face PML-N candidates Faisal Hayat Jabwana and Mehr Aslam Bharwana.

It is pertinent to mention that the seats fell vacant after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) de-seated 25 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members for voting for Hamza Shahbaz in the election for Punjab Chief Minister.

During the 2018 general election, independent candidate Mehr Muhammad Aslam Bharwana from PP-127 won, while independent candidate Faisal Hayat Jabwana from PP-125.
